Foreign Wedding Photography

Below is a foreign wedding I shot at the Lindia Thalassa Resort in Pefkos, Greece. After a few discussions on the phone, a meeting and a flight out to Pefkos a few days before the wedding, so I could do a recce…I was ready! Pefkos is a stunning village on the Greek islands, right on the coast. Pefkos offered me endless wedding photo options, as did the cruise around the bay and the stunning wedding reception venue on the beach.

The Lindia Thalassa Hotel and Resort offered the perfect back drop for the wedding ceremony. The hotel and wedding coordinator were incredibly helpful throughout and made for a great day for all.

Surfers Against Sewage does Strictly

I'm a big supporter of Surfer's Against Sewage and the work they do. So when asked if I'd take some photos of their version of Strictly how could I refuse? Fantastic event and they raised a whopping £10,000+. So well done to all involved. 

New Service

Having a strong swimming background, growing up on the beach, competing in Surf Lifesaving for a number of years, as well as loving the surf and Cornish coast and being the co-owner of a swimming holidays company...the fact that I don't take underwater images is a little strange. Well, I'm about the change that. I've made a fantastic and very exciting investment last week in an underwater housing so watch this space! 

Property Photography in Newquay

I was recently employed to taken property shot for an old hotel that now offer bed-sit style accommodation in Newquay. The rooms were a little small which made my job a little tricky but fantastic views and an even better location...looking over Town Beach.

I've been a little slow of late on the old Blog. The birth of my second child is to blame...it's also the subject of this Blog post.

The Beast from the East

I managed to get out in the recent snow fall and take a few photos of the carnage. Distance landscape photographs of St Michael's Mount. My fingers have just about recovered a day on. 

Surf at the Mount

With a new baby arriving any time now I ran to the beach, took 30 minutes of photos and ran back. Some of the best surf I've seen at Marazion in the 4 years that I've lived in the area. The surf always looks good here, with St Michael's Mount towering over it! 

Trevenna Barns Weddings

Trevenna Barns offers a fantastic country back-drop for a huge number of weddings in North Cornwall, St Neot to be precise. I've worked on quite a large number of weddings at Trevenna Barns and always have a great day...and feed! 

Below I've put together a number of wedding photos from various weddings that I've shot at Trevenna over the past couple of years. 

Trevenna Barns as a venue are a series of converted farm buildings. The wedding ceremony is carried out at Trevenna, as well as the wedding reception. 

Pre-wedding Preparation

Wedding photographers turn up on the day, snap away and generally leave a few songs into the evenings entertainment. There is however, a lot more work that goes into a wedding. 

The Recce. I spend a good half-day a couple of weeks before the wedding day on a site recce. I'll check the Church/ceremony location, check all of the addresses and make sure I can find them, the venue and explore the local area. Quite often with a little bit of effort you can find stunning features and backdrops within a few miles of the wedding venue. 

The Plan. Another important part of wedding prep is finding the best spots for wedding photographs before the day and coming up with a plan. This saves time on the day and ensures the wedding couple spend most of their wedding day with their guests and not me...and that I get the best wedding photos possible. 

The Edit. Generally, for every hour I spend taking photos at a wedding I'll spend the exact same amount of time editing the wedding photos. You'll receive all of the wedding photographs in colour and black & white.

Sunset in Penzance / Newlyn

A few stunning landscape photographs of Penzance / Newlyn from last month. I nearly left 20 minutes before taking these landscape photos of Cornwall but decided to hang around! Glad I did.

Wedding flowers, wedding flowers and....more wedding flowers. I don't really know a lot about wedding flowers but I thought I'd add a selection of wedding flowers from various weddings in Cornwall. Hopefully you'll be inspired! 

Hendra Barns Wedding Venue

I was booked for a wedding at Hendra Barns in October. A venue I hadn't ever heard of. After doing a little research online I was really impressed and couldn't wait to drive over and take a look around. Hendra Barns didn't disappoint. 

A beautiful set of farm buildings set on the side of a valley in central Cornwall. Nestled in  next to a sleepy little wooded area and it has stunning views over their onsite lakes. 

Unfortunately it was too wet under foot for the bridal couple to use the purpose built lakeside Arbour. Hendra Barns however, have a fantastic wedding ceremony back-up plan, with their large conservatory, that have panoramic views and is flooded with natural light. 

With this particular wedding at Hendra Barns the bridal couple opted to have their wedding breakfast in one of the breathtaking converted barns, rather than the other option of a wedding marquee. 

St Mawgan Church, near Newquay

St Mawgan village is a stunning little sleepy village near Newquay. St Mawgan Church itself is positioned right next to a small stream and a fabulous Daffodil bed (during the right time of year of course). A 30 second walk will also take you to the Falcon Inn to settle those nerves before the wedding ceremony. 

Like many other Cornish churches St Mawgan Church offers fantastic wedding photo opportunities a stones throw away. 

Weddings at Colan Church, Newquay, Cornwall

Going through a few wedding photographs at home it sudden struck me how beautiful Colan Church is. You don't immediately pick up on these things when you're working! In fact, thinking about it now the entire surrounding area is stunning. Shooting weddings there is always a pleasure. 

Whether mid-winter or bloom-time in Spring/Summer Colan Church always gives me (as a wedding photographer) plenty to work with. 

Below are a few of my favourite Colan Church wedding photographs. Having done quite a few recces around the Colan area, especially around the Church, I've found lots of great spots for wedding photography. 

Colan Church itself is tucked away in the countryside...you'd hardly know it was there unless looking for it! Colan Church is a small-to-medium sized Church and is surrounded by greenery. You have a nearby stream and reservior.

Wedding Photography at Hendra Barns, Mitchell, Newquay

You never know what to expect from the weather in mid-October. What I didn't expect was a 20 degree summer-style day! Glorious Autumn sunshine at Hendra Barns, near Newquay. Great wedding day and a really relaxed vibe throughout. The first wedding I've shot at Hendra Barns. Spoilt for choice when it came to wedding photos and it provides such a stunning back drop as a wedding venue.

I jumped out a little early during our game against Plymouth Uni and took some action shots, at a very dark Newquay Waterworld. Makes photography around the pool quite the challenge!
